Repaint your garage door on a regular basis
Wood doors should be repainted every year, while steel ones require painting every two or three years and possibly less often, depending on the climatic conditions in the area. The type of paint you choose is essential. You need to use exterior-grade paint designed to provide protection from water and temperature extremes.
Lubricate steel garage door rollers in an easy and effective way
The first task is to inspect the rollers for damage. Watch out for twisted stems, chipped wheels and rust. If any of these problems exists, replacement is the best solution. If the rollers are intact, you can proceed with the lubrication. Get the spray can and stand on the side of the door. Then initiate closing and spray the wheels one by one as they roll.
Don't leave children unattended in your garage
Your garage is not a safe place for your children to loiter around in. Many toddlers like to play with the opener remote or run under the overhead door while it's closing to trigger its safety reversal system on. Your children may not fall into those cliches, but even they can be unaware of the dangers your garage door could potentially pose. Never leave your children alone in your garage.
